Got a stylish dad in your life? Or maybe one that thinks nothing's wrong with a little socks-with-sandals action? Whatever end of the fashion spectrum he gravitates toward, Nordstrom Guide to Men's Style is sure to get him thinking about what works and what doesn't.

Now before you go thinking this is some pretentious tome of rules on what not to wear, it isn't. Author, fashion trend expert Tom Julian, has put together a highly readable and entertaining guide that breaks down your personal style into one of four categories: trendy, contemporary, classic and luxury. He also lays out the basic components of men's wardrobes -- suits, sport coats, trousers, shirts, ties and tuxedos.

The book is chock full of tips and ideas, including sizing information straight from the tailors mouths. Julian also provides simple rules to remember when creating your own personal style.

For instance, luxury guys who really want to make a statement with their clothing may want to mix patterns. The rule of thumb, though, is to mix two small patterns with one large one (i.e., a suit with a small plaid pattern, a buttonup with small stripes, and a bold paisley tie).

On a Chicago news segment, Julian also suggests ways to mix trendier pieces into any wardrobe. For instance is the cardigan, which has come out of the Mr. Rogers dark ages with a more fitted, tailored shape. Because it is slimmer this go-around, it works easily under a blazer. Pair with dark jeans to complete the look.

Can't visualize how that would work? Never fear. The book doesn't just tell you how to do it, it shows you. The photos of different looks, fits, etc. alone will set you on the right track.

This book is a must for any guy who doesn't walk around naked. Get one for your dad -- and yourself.
